Gor Mahia were this afternoon playing the visiting English Premier League side Hull City FC in aninternational friendly match. Gor Mahia is the defending Sportspesa Premier League champs in Kenya, and has been showing impressive talents even to a more professional, well trained English team.
The two teams couldn’t see past any other’s goal post, and after an uneventful 90 normal time play-off, the teams had to square it on the post-match penalties kick-offs, to warrant whichever side the bragging rights.
Kenyan’s came in their large numbers, from as far as Kisumu, and the 60,000 capacity Kasarani Stadium was filled to the brim, with loyal spectators. Local sports loyalty aside, the mashemejis, the Bandaris, the Ulinzis, and the Sofapakas fans from all around the country were #TeamGorMahia.
Tuyisenge, Kagere and Onyango converted the spot kicks while Onguso and Kevin Omondi had their penalties saved comfortably. Skipper Shakava hit the post. The Tigers won 4-3 after Gor Mahia had squandered a chance to open the gap when the first round of penalty kick had ended 2-2.
Anyways, the Gor Mahia Goalie – Bonface Oluoch was the MVP of the day.
