China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) presents SGR photography competition, the 2017 edition, an artistic project to nurture creativity and use photography to tell stories. It embodies the spirit of adventure, culture, discovery and exchange between Kenya and China in development partnership.
The competition commenced on the March 20th through to the March 25th. CRBC was on a journey to discover Kenya’s most talented photographers.
The photographers were requested to submit their original works for consideration. The top 25 pictures and the photographers were to be selected for a chance to compete for the top prize in the competition.
The award gala to announce the winners took place on April 21, 2017 in Nairobi.
- The top prize was KShs 400, 000, the runner up KShs 200,000 and the third position KShs 100,000.
- There was also cash prizes for 7 auxiliary positions.
Kelvin Kimani walked away with KShs 400,000 Ksh as the overall winner of the SGR Photography Competition 2017.
Tonny Hillary (popularly known as Tonny Hill), didn’t let Kisumu down.
He went on and beat many other contestants to be the first runners up in the competition. Tonny Hill is a photojournalist in Kisumu with the Nation Media Group, and he has also been locally documenting the infrastructural beauty of the lakeside city through his lenses.
