About 8 hours ago, @Netflix, the official twitter feed for Netflix sent out a tweet that has excited the internet beyond measure. The tweet said…

So why is this a big deal? First of all Netflix is a company that provides on demand internet streaming media. Basically, its an online library of TV shows and movies which you can access any time and anywhere you want so long as they are made available in the Netflix library. For those of us who love television and the internet, this is the best news since toast bread. For me, who’d rather stay home at night watching Tv till morning comes instead of going out, this is definitely a big deal.

There’s only one problem though. Kisumu City does not have a home internet provider. And that sucks because for you to access Netflix (or Hulu or Android TV or IPTV), you need decent Internet connection that will allow you to download (or stream) either at home or at your workplace.

A press statement followed soon after in which Netflix Co-founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings was quoted saying, “Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network.” He goes on, “With this launch, consumers around the world — from Singapore to St. Petersburg, from San Francisco to Sao Paulo — will be able to enjoy TV shows and movies simultaneously — no more waiting. With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”
